Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. Check into your hotel in Nairobi. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore some of Nairobi’s attractions like the Nairobi National Museum or the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Elephant Orphanage.

Start your day with a visit to the Giraffe Centre, where you can feed and get up close to endangered Rothschild giraffes. Afterward, visit the Karen Blixen Museum, the former home of the author of “Out of Africa.” In the afternoon, explore the Kazuri Beads Women’s Cooperative and the Bomas of Kenya cultural center. Spend your evening at leisure, perhaps enjoying Nairobi’s vibrant nightlife.

Leave Nairobi early and drive to Lake Naivasha, which is about a 2-3 hour drive. Check in at your chosen accommodation in Naivasha. In the afternoon, take a boat ride on Lake Naivasha to see the hippos and birdlife.

Spend the morning exploring Hell’s Gate National Park. You can hike or bike through the park, which inspired the Disney movie “The Lion King.” In the afternoon, visit the Crescent Island Game Sanctuary for a walking safari among herbivores.

Drive to Maasai Mara National Reserve (approximately 5-6 hours), a world-renowned safari destination. Check in at your chosen lodge or camp within the Maasai Mara. Enjoy an evening game drive to spot the diverse wildlife that calls the reserve home.

Spend a full day exploring the Maasai Mara, with morning and afternoon game drives to maximize your chances of seeing the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros). Maasai Mara is also famous for the Great Migration (July to October), so try to plan your visit during this time if possible.

After a morning game drive and breakfast, depart from Maasai Mara and head back to Nairobi. Depending on your flight schedule, you can do some last-minute shopping or visit any attractions you missed on your first day. Depart from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward journey.
